Use in nasal surgeries - though gelatin based sponge is found to be most effective haemostatic and non toxic packing material after endoscopic sinus surgery (Cho Ks et al) and septoplasty (Kim SD et al), few research publications also suggest that any packing material coming into contact with sinus wall impairs its healing. The benefit of haemostatic packing in nasal septal surgery is unclear and product usage should be based on the surgeon's discretion and experience.
